| DAY 2 | MORNING: • Pickup at the Rio de Janeiro International Airport and transfer to the Hotel • Beachfront Hotel check-in and Lunch Afternoon: • Beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema – It is almost impossible for visitors to resist the charm of the city's 80 kilometers of beaches. Framed by the wavy black and white mosaics of Avenue Atlântica, Copacabana is one of the main reasons for this fascination. In fact, there are two separate beaches here: Leme (one kilometer) and Copacabana, (just over three kilometers). A center of activity both night and day, the beach is lined with kiosks, a bicycle path and racks, lifeguard posts, public showers and bathrooms, hotels, bars and open-air restaurants. Ipanema is even more irresistible than the muse that inspired the "Girl from Ipanema" and there is no doubt that Ipanema is a famous meeting point in Rio de Janeiro. A major attraction throughout the day, its sands also welcome countless after-dark visitors, including joggers and other athletes who cluster at its kiosks, pedal along the bicycle path and make good use of special lighting to exercise and relax. Afternoon: • Lunch • Corcovado & Tijuca Forest tour: At the Corcovado Hill, located in the Tijuca Atlantic Forest, the largest urban forest in the world, is the statue of Christ the Redeemer, one of Rio's most famous postcards. The Corcovado Hill, together with Dona Marta belvedere, is a mandatory tour in Rio for the beauty of the sightseeing from both locations. From the Corcovado, we can see the beaches of Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon, the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon and the Botanical Garden. From the D. Marta belvedere, the main attractions are the Maracanã stadium, the Guanabara Bay and the Sugar Loaf. The Tijuca Forest National Park, which covers some 20 miles of Rio's urban landscape, is a hand-planted rainforest, home to a vast variety of exotic plants and wildlife found only in the Atlantic Rainforest region. Known as the 'Green Spine of Rio,' the forest contains several significant sites including Cachoeira dos Macacos (Monkey's Waterfall), Taunay's Waterfall, Chinese View, the large granite Emperor's Table and the Mayrink Chapel, with painted murals by Candido Portinari. Walk an easy trail to view tropical trees and fruits as well as a variety of monkeys, birds and butterflies. EVENING: • Dinner • Gafieira Estudantina - Dance Hall Opened in 1932, the Gafieira Estudantina was designed as an alternative to the old dance halls popular during the 1930s. Today it is a nightspot which offers a setting for a wide variety of styles and rhythms, helping popularize ballroom dancing. Once there, you will enjoy the magnificent view as the sun sets over Copacabana Beach. • Maracanã Soccer Stadium - international symbol of soccer-land preserves the history of the sport that is synonymous with Brazil. Among the wonders of Rio, Maracanã, the largest stadium in the world, is one of the country’s major tourist and cultural patrimonies. It was built in 1950 for the World Cup, and designed to hold 166,369 spectators. Currently, after reforms, it can hold up to 114,145. Guided visit to the Football Museum, locker rooms and the stadium Hall of Fame EVENING: • Dinner at Churrascaria - typical Brazilian barbecue restaurant • Bossa Nova Concert - Brazilian music, fusion of jazz and samba | Morning: • Breakfast • Private Boat Cruise along the coast of Rio de Janeiro - We start our cruise in Guanabara Bay, with sightseeing of the Botafogo and Flamengo Beaches, Ilha Fiscal, the Rio-Niteroi Bridge, and the Museum of Contemporary Art. We proceed with the tour, watching the Historical Forts along the entrance of the Ba and the Sugar Loaf viewed by the sea. Leaving the bay, we will have an overview of Copacabana and Ipanema Beaches, and stop by the Cagarras Islands for swimming, snorkeling, nature observation and sightseeing of the magnificent landscape of Rio de Janeiro viewed from this archipelago. Next, we may depart cruising to the Niterói shore, passing by the Rasa and Redonda Islands, Piratininga and Camboinhas beaches, reaching the Pai and Mãe Islands, and stop at Itaipu, a nice and soothing beach. At this point, we land at this bucolic beach where several choices of seaside restaurants make this a perfect setting for a relaxing meal. Afterwards, we return to Guanabara Bay to end the day special tour, passing by other beaches and islands, and various spots with nice views of the 'Wonderful City' of Rio de Janeiro.
